I learned that being a visual journalist is not just about photographing and taking pictures, you will have to think proactively, integrating psychology, sociology, politics and art to develop a unique vision and presentation.
Which items in the NPPA Code of Ethics do you believe are the most important?
I believe that the most important Code is
"Editing should maintain the integrity of the photographic images' content and context. Do not manipulate images or add or alter sound in any way that can mislead viewers or misrepresent subjects." Editing can convey a different message than what it really is, it is important to maintain integrity and use your editing skills wisely.
How will reading this effect how you take photographs in the future?
Reading this will definitely affect how I take photographs in the future as I will make sure to avoid over editing my images.

I learned that you should always describe the things that are not clear in the pictures, such as the time, location, or people, and you should always give credit. Also, I learned that you should avoid starting captions with these words: a, an, or the.

What did you learn from reading the article?
I learned that the length of the caption does not matter as long as all the needed information are given in the caption. It is also very important that all the information that are listed in the caption are true, and that all punctuations are correct.

The most important thing that I learned is that you always have to look in different perspectives when writing a caption and think about how every single person will interpret it. It is also very important that you be specific in writing the caption, but only provide the needed information.

I learned a lot about the importance of images and how it can make an unforgettable story. I learned how a collection of images can help create a story, evoke emotions, and show different perspectives. I also learned that a good photo essay doesn’t rely on any text or knowledge or title, because it narrates and tells a story on its own.

How Richard Avedon Shaped the America in Your Head
What did you learn from reading about Richard Avedon?
How will reading this effect how you take photographs in the future?
I learned that his photographs were really powerful, and really worked for marketing. For example, when he shot a campaign for Clairol, the number of American women who dyed their hair severely increased. He worked with many styles and shot thousands of advertisements, many in color, very different from his editorial work.
Reading this will affect how I take my pictures in the future as it inspired me to experiment different styles and get out of my comfort zone.

The photo that I liked the most is the Blackglama, 1970. I like it because it is simple but the black and white makes it very intense and interesting. The woman in the picture is elegantly dressed and has a serious facial expression which matches with the dark theme.
Viewing Richard Avedon't photographs will definitely affect how I take my photographs in the future. Seeing the different photograph styles and his way of conveying a message through photographs is very inspiring.

What did you learn from reading about Annie Leibovitz?
How will reading this effect how you take photographs in the future?
I learned that she admired the fashion work of Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton and Irving Penn, but she had no desire to emulate them as she thought that fashion was "silly". Although she wasn't interested in fashion, the photographs from “Wonderland,” her new book and collection, may be her strongest work. Her book "Wonderland" is an anthology of fashion images shot mainly for Vogue.
Reading this will affect how I take photos in the future as it inspired me to explore different things when photographing.

How will viewing Annie Leibovitz photographs effect how you take photographs in the future?
The photo that I liked the most is the one with Keira Knightley and Jeff Koons from "Wonderland". I like it because it is very powerful and the colors of the photo are very dark except the white dress to show emphasis on it.
Viewing these photographs will affect how I take my photographs in the future. It inspires me to think outside the box when taking photos.

How will reading this effect how you take photographs in the future?
I learned that Ansel Adam's use of filters play a big role on how his photography turn out to be, this will definitely affect how I take photos in the future as it I will pay a lot more attention to filters and editing.

Patterns in Nature: Flora
This shows me how amazing close-up pictures can look. Close-up pictures show small details that we wouldn't normally notice, which makes it much more interesting. This will affect how I take photographs in the future as I will make sure to capture as much detail as possible when photographing close-ups.

From reading this article, I learned that there are two golden hours during the day, during sunrise, and during the sunset. I didn't know that taking pictures during sunrise gives the same warm, soft result that the sunset give. This article will affect how I take photographs in the future as it gave a lot of valuable information. One of the most important lessons that I learned is that I should always plan prior to taking pictures during the golden hour, I should make sure that I'm all setup by the time the light gets interesting.

I learned that dawn and dusk times have little to no wind, which means that subjects such as flowers or fragile grasses don’t show movement, so the pictures turn out very calm and peaceful. This will affect how I take photos in the future as I learned that if I wanted to take less dramatic pictures, I will do so during the dawn and dusk.

By reading this article, I learned that ‘dull’ weather doesn’t mean dull images and in fact overcast conditions are a distinct advantage for many forms of landscape photography. This will affect how I take photos in the future as I will start to focus more on composition, using shape, form and line, to create a compelling photograph in bad weather.

I learned a lot from watching this video, I learned about the importance of composition and how interesting photos can turn out to be when adding these composition rules. This will definitely affect how I take photographs in the future as I will start to integrate these tips for more compelling pictures.
